Telethon Strategic Plan for Research
The Telethon Strategic Plan for Research 2006-2010 was the first effort to outline the objectives and research priorities of the Telethon Foundation. Working as the Telethon’s consultant for scientific development, and reporting to the foundation’s Chief Scientific Officer, I contributed to the planning process with the help of an international scientific advisory board (SAB) composed of eminent experts.
The work involved several meetings with the SAB in New York over a five-year period. For its size and objectives, it was one of the most ambitious research planning efforts for a research charity in Europe.
The title “Moving Towards New Therapies” underlined the Telethon’s mission: transforming excellent science into therapies available to patients. The plan identified four strategic priorities and nine key areas of management.
